Dr. Tate Saurey

Tate Saurey, MD is an ophthalmologist and cataract surgeon dedicated to bringing advanced surgical eye care to his community. He performs more than 1,000 cataract and glaucoma procedures each year and is recognized for excellent surgical outcomes, precision, and a personalized approach to patient care. Dr. Saurey specializes in cataract surgery, premium lens implants, astigmatism correction, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), oculoplastic procedures, and the management of complex ocular disease, including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration.

Dr. Saurey earned his medical degree from the University of Washington and completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of South Carolina, where he served as Academic Chief Resident and led the nation in the number of surgeries performed by a resident surgeon. He is an Adjunct Faculty Member at Campbell University School of Medicine, a published researcher, and is committed to providing excellent surgical care both locally and globally.

Dr. Saurey frequently volunteers on international surgical mission trips to restore sight to patients in underserved communities. He is the recipient of numerous awards recognizing his commitment to service and volunteer work. He is fluent in Spanish and certified as an advanced medical translator.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Saurey enjoys playing ice hockey, fishing, boating, and, most of all, spending time with his wife and three children.
