Rebecca Auston Croom is originally from Clayton, NC and has previously worked in family medicine and urgent care. She is excited to be a part of Waynesborough Ophthalmology as a physician assistant, and has special interests in comprehensive exams, external lid disease, dermatology, dry eye, diabetes, and glaucoma.
Auston attended Campbell University to earn her bachelor degree in Biology, with a minor in Psychology. During her four years at Campbell, Auston was a member of the Campbell Dance Team, she served as a Study Abroad Ambassador, and a Peer Mentor for first year students. She also was a member of several honor societies including, Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, and Psi Chi Honor Society. While obtaining her bachelor’s degree, Auston also worked as a medical assistant and a CNA to gain healthcare experience. After earning her undergraduate degree, Auston attended Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC graduating with a Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies.
Auston is happily married to her husband Jonathan and both have recently been promoted to “parents” with the arrival of their little boy in the Fall of 2024. Auston also enjoys traveling, and spending time at the beach with family, friends, and their golden retriever, Goose.
